Eye Exams

We recommend that all people should have periodic and thorough eye examinations as part of routine primary care, especially since many eye diseases are asymptomatic.

Common systemic conditions detected on a routine eye examination include diabetes, high blood pressure and high cholesterol, and many neurological conditions. It may also be necessary to have dilation eye drops instilled at our visit in order to attain views of the retina which require the pupil to be dilated.

Eye disease is a common complication of diabetes, which can lead to blindness. If you have diabetes, you are at increased risk of developing eye disease.

Undergoing eye exams every year is very important for people with diabetes. Eye exams give you an indication of how diabetes is affecting your overall health.
